New Construction

Any new meter location on Crawford Electric’s system must be signed up as a new service. Signing up involves providing proof of ownership of the property (deed or property tax receipt), helping us locate your property (using a legal description of the property to be served) on our service area maps, joining the co-op, and giving us an easement onto your property.

A $20 membership fee and an appropriate service connect fee will be charged to your first electric bill. The service connect fee will be based on the following schedule:

$150 for 100-amp service
$200 for 200-amp service

$500 for 320-amp service

View the Underground Service Entrance spec sheet.

Your load requirements will help us determine which size service you need.

We can add a dusk-to-dawn light to your new service for no installation charge (a savings of $15). The light will cost you $6.50 a month.

A security deposit may be required on a case by case basis. Contact the office for more information.

An appointment with an engineer may be required.

Line extension policies:
The co-op will build up to 1,500 feet of overhead line at no charge to a permanent residence meeting certain requirements. Beyond that distance, non-refundable aid-in-construction charges will apply.

For new construction, the person requesting electric service must provide a cleared right of way before power line construction will begin. See the Overhead Right-Of-Way Clearance Specifications for more details.

Charges may apply for construction to seasonal residences or other structures.

Services located in Franklin County must have an approved county inspection before Crawford Electric can energize the meter loop.
