Trouble Paying

To maintain a good credit history with Crawford Electric, please ensure that your monthly payments are received by the 15th of every month. Allow five days for mailing. Crawford Electric cannot make allowances for late payments due to mailing delay or loss.

Accounts with an unpaid balance are subject to disconnection for non-payment.

If a trip is made to disconnect an account for non-payment, the member is required to pay all past-due amounts as well as a $25 collection trip fee. Before reconnection, the following charges also may apply:

Reconnect fee of $25
After-hours reconnection fee of $75
Additional security deposit (varies by account)

If your check is returned to the co-op for insufficient funds, we will notify you and give you seven days to make restitution. You also will be assessed a $30 returned check fee. Your account will be subject to disconnection if your bad check is not covered within the time frame. At that time, you also will be charged a collection trip fee of $25.

If you write a bad check in an attempt to delay delinquent disconnection, your account will be disconnected without further notice. You also will be charged a $30 returned check fee and a collection trip fee of $25.

If you are having difficulty paying your electric bills, please contact us. We can give you information about assistance organizations, and we’ll try to work with you on a payment schedule.

Any account that remains unpaid 30-60 days after disconnection will be referred to a collection agency for legal action.

Meter tampering is a crime. Account holders who steal electricity by tampering with their meters are subject to criminal prosecution as well as hefty charges and fees.
