Capital Credits
Member-owned, non-profit cooperatives like Crawford Electric are financially obligated to our member-owners. All funds left over after paying expenses and accounting for prudent reserves belong to the consumer-owners, not the utility.
As a member, you receive not only a needed service but also a benefit reserved for owners of a company – a return on your investment. This happens through something called "capital credits." These credits are applied in your name each year in proportion to your electric usage. The credits are paid out to you as the financial condition of the cooperative permits.
Watch your member newsletter for notice of the payout schedule and your allocation of capital credits each year.
